An Abuja Federal High Court on Tuesday granted co-convener of the RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore bail.Justice Taiwo Taiwo has asked the Department of State Service to release Omoyele Sowore on bail.
In a short ruling, Justice Taiwo said: “The order of court has expired. It has not been renewed and cannot be renewed in view of the motion ex-parte earlier withdrawn.
“The liberty of all Nigerians high or low, poor or rich is guaranteed by the constitution. It’s for this end that I’m of the view that the defendant ought to be released forthwith.”
Following Sowore’s call for revolution, the Department of State Services, DSS, had arrested the AAC 2019 presidential candidate.
The judge made the ruling after listening to the argument of Sowore’s lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) and the prosecuting counsel.
The judge, as part of bail conditions, asked Sowore to drop his international passport with the court within 48 hours.
